Fire at 14-Storey Haji Tower in Armanitola under control

DHAKA, Dec 23, 2025 (BSS) - A fire that broke out early this morning at Haji Tower, a 14-storey commercial cum residential building in the Babubazar area of Armanitola in Old Dhaka, was brought under control.

Nine firefighting units rushed to the scene within five minutes after the fire originated on the sixth floor of the building at around 6:40am and doused the blaze around 7:20am.

Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman said this while briefing reporters at the scene.

The units included two from Sadarghat Fire Station, five from Siddiqbazar Fire Station, and two from Sutrapur Fire Station.

Firefighters safely evacuated 17 people from the building using alternative staircases. 

Of the 14-storey structure, the first four floors are used for commercial purposes, while the remaining floors are residential.

No immediate information regarding casualties or the cause of the fire has been confirmed yet. 

The cause of the blaze and the extent of damage will be determined following an investigation, the FSCD official said.
