MAGURA, Jan 2, 2026 (BSS) – Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today said the international community is expressing positive outlook about the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.

"The global community expects a democratic transition in Bangladesh through a peaceful and credible election,” he said.

Shafiqul came up with the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting the Nanduali Nitai Gouro Gopal Sebashram in Magura town in the morning.

He said the government is committed to ensuring that all communities—Muslims, Hindus, hill people—can exercise their voting rights in a peaceful and secure environment.

“We are making every effort to create such an atmosphere,” he added.
He said extensive preparations have been undertaken jointly by the government and the Election Commission to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the election.

As part of the security measures, all 301 polling centres in Magura district are being brought under live CCTV surveillance within January, he said.

He also informed that 800 police personnel have already been trained in the district.

Similar preparations are underway across the country, with risky polling centres identified nationwide, he added.

In many areas, security will be further strengthened through the use of body cameras by law enforcement personnel.

Referring to the previous tenure of the Awami League, Shafiqul Alam said that the party had been involved in various irregularities and corrupt in the name of upholding the spirit of the Liberation War.

He further said that a one-party authoritarian system had been established and employment opportunities were often limited to party-affiliated individuals.

During the temple visit, principal of the Sebashram Chinmoyananda Das Brahmachari, Tarun Bhowmik and others were present.
