DHAKA, July 3, 2026 (BSS) - Eight Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees from Natore and one from Bogura have been allowed to continue this year's examinations after the intervention of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.

The students had missed the first day's Bengali First Paper examination on Thursday due to separate administrative failures involving form-filling and registration.

In Natore's Lalpur Upazila, eight students from Abdulpur Government College were unable to sit for the exam despite paying their form-filling fees. According to the ministry, an office assistant, Amit Kumar Sarkar, allegedly collected the fees but failed to deposit them with the Rajshahi Education Board, resulting in the students not receiving admit cards.

After the incident was reported in the media, the minister directed the Rajshahi Education Board to take immediate action. The board completed the students' form-filling and other required procedures under special arrangements on Friday, enabling them to sit for all remaining examinations as regular candidates from Saturday.

Police have arrested Amit Kumar Sarkar on charges of embezzling the students' fees. The minister also instructed local law enforcement to take strict legal action, while a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident.

In a separate case, a student from Sariakandi in Bogura was also unable to take Thursday's examination because of a registration number error made by the college authorities, despite completing the form-filling process on time.

Following the minister's intervention, the relevant education board corrected the error and completed the necessary formalities on Friday, allowing the student to appear in the remaining examinations as a regular candidate.
