DHAKA, July 13, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to inaugurate a special programme titled "Youth, Startup, and Promising Bangladesh" tomorrow at Dhaka University (DU).

The initiative aims to integrate the innovative ideas, creativity, and entrepreneurial potential of the youth into the mainstream of national development.

The grand event will be held tomorrow at 9:30 AM at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University.

Organized by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division of the government, the programme is being hosted in collaboration with Dhaka University.

Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Rehan Asif Asad will grace the occasion as special guests.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam will deliver the thanks, while the Acting Secretary of the ICT Division Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan will give the introductory speech.

Furthermore, Professor Dr. Md. Morshed Hasan Khan of the DU’s Department of Marketing, who is also a member of the event management committee, will deliver the welcome address.

The inaugural ceremony will feature a documentary screening on the Bangladesh Startup Ecosystem, followed by an experience-sharing session by successful startups titled "Golpo Noy Shotyi" (True Stories, Not Fables). The event will also include an open-floor discussion between the Prime Minister and students regarding startup-related topics, alongside the distribution of grant checks to selected startups.

A major attraction of the event will be the official launch of the 'National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform', which will serve as a national digital launchpad for entrepreneurs.

Through this unified platform, entrepreneurs can easily access essential information, government support programmes, application processes, training, mentoring, investment opportunities, partner organizations, and related services under a single roof.

This initiative aims to enhance coordination in entrepreneurship development, simplify service delivery, and build an effective national startup ecosystem.

The ICT Division is currently implementing various integrated programmes to transform the innovative ideas of the youth into real-world ventures, create technology-based employment, encourage research, and build a knowledge-based economy.

Efforts are underway to support entrepreneurs throughout their entire journey — from initial ideation, training, and mentoring to funding, investment matchmaking, and business expansion.

Integrating the innovative power of the youth and women through entrepreneurship development is now a top national priority. In line with this, the current government's Election Manifesto 2026 has given special priority to startup and entrepreneurship development to drive economic growth, job creation, and technological transformation.

As part of this commitment, a Taka 500 crore Startup Fund has already been formed to finance and nurture promising innovative ventures. The event will remain open to all from 1:00 PM onwards following the completion of the inaugural session.
