“Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today sent a congratulatory message to the newly appointed Prime Minister of the UK,” Prime Minister’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly told BSS tonight.

In the congratulatory message, Tarique Rahman wished for peace, prosperity, and democratic progress for the UK under Burnham's leadership.

He also extended his heartfelt greetings on behalf of the Bangladesh government, its people, and himself personally to the Labor Party leader on his election and assumption of office as the UK Prime Minister.

Tarique Rahman noted that Burnham's election is a reflection of the trust reposed in his leadership by his party and the people of the United Kingdom.

He expressed hope that under the new Prime Minister's leadership, the UK will play a vital role in promoting peace, sustainable development, democratic governance, and addressing various global challenges.

In his message, Tarique Rahman also highlighted the long-standing historical and multifaceted relationship between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom, saying, “This partnership is built on shared democratic values, mutual respect, Commonwealth principles, and close people-to-people ties.”

“The relationship between the two nations continues to expand across various sectors, including trade, investment, development cooperation, combating climate change, education, security, migration, and cultural exchange,” he said.

The Prime Minister further said that the Bangladeshi diaspora living in the UK serves as an important bridge of friendship between the two countries, making significant contributions to the economies and cultural diversity of both nations.

In the letter, Tarique Rahman expressed his eagerness to work closely with Burnham to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom.

At the same time, he extended an invitation to the new UK Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.

Concluding the message, the Bangladesh Prime Minister wished Burnham good health, personal well-being, and success in his tenure as Prime Minister, while also wishing peace, progress, and prosperity for the people of the United Kingdom.
