DHAKA, July 22, 2026 (BSS) – Outgoing Chief of Bangladesh Navy Admiral M Nazmul Hassan today paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office at Bangladesh Secretariat here this afternoon, said PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.

During the meeting, they discussed issues relating to safeguarding the country's sovereignty, maritime security, modernisation of the Bangladesh Navy and other matters of national interests.

The Prime Minister appreciated Admiral Nazmul Hassan's achievements during his tenure, commending his visionary leadership and contribution to the modernisation of the Bangladesh Navy, enhancement of its operational capabilities and efforts to further strengthen it as a professional force.

Admiral Nazmul Hassan expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his overall cooperation, guidance and sincere support throughout his tenure.

Later, the Prime Minister hosted a luncheon in honour of the outgoing Navy chief.

Nazmul Hassan assumed office as the Chief of the Bangladesh Navy on July 24, 2023.
