Illegal gas connections severed in Narsingdi

NARSINGDI, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - A joint operation by the district administration and Titas Gas authorities against illegal gas connections in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila led to the disconnection of unauthorised lines and the realisation of Tk 151,000 in fines.

The drive was carried out on Wednesday afternoon in the Brahmandi and Sangeeta areas, led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Naeem Hasan Shuvo.

The fines were imposed under the relevant provisions of the Bangladesh Gas Act, 2010 and were collected on the spot.

During the operation, all identified illegal gas connections were disconnected immediately.

Besides, officials undertook awareness activities to inform residents about the legal and safety risks associated with illegal gas connections.

Authorities also initiated the process of recovering around Tk 328,000 in outstanding gas bills.
