RAJSHAHI, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - Officials of the district administration today categorically said the supply of fuel oil remains completely normal and there is no need to buy or stockpile extra fuel based on rumours or misleading information.

They made the remark at a discussion meeting held this afternoon in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner. The meeting was organised to ensure the normal supply of fuel, review the market situation and prevent the spread of rumours.

Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam presided over the meeting, which was attended, among others, by Superintendent of Police Naimul Hasan, Deputy Police Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Mostafizur Rahman and Senior Assistant Commissioner Abhijit Sarkar.

Owners of various petrol pumps in the district, business leaders and officials from different government departments were also present.

The meeting was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Sabur Ali.

Kazi Shahidul Islam said people should remain vigilant by obtaining accurate information from the government and other reliable sources instead of paying heed to rumours.

He said unreasonable purchases or stockpiling of fuel could create an artificial shortage in the market, increasing the suffering of the common people.

“Therefore, instead of panicking, we must act responsibly, and everyone must cooperate to maintain a normal market situation," he said.

The meeting reviewed the current fuel supply system and market situation. Participants also discussed the measures needed to ensure the uninterrupted supply of fuel in the future.

Petrol pump owners, business leaders and officials concerned also shared their views at the meeting.
