
RANGPUR, July 22, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) arrested 19
people for various crimes and seized contraband drugs in special 24-hour
anti-crime drives conducted across the metropolis.
During the drives, different units of RpMP seized 66 bottles of phensedyl-
like syrup ESkuf, 50 pieces of Yaba tablets, three grams of heroin, 100 grams
of ganja and a motorcycle from different places, a press release said.
The release said that the Detective Branch (DB) of RpMP in separate raids
arrested 11 people in the operations conducted under the overall direction
and supervision of RpMP Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud.
In the DB police drives, the 11 people were arrested on charges of consuming,
carrying and selling drugs like ESkuf syrup, heroin, Yaba tablets and ganja.
Meanwhile, Haragachh Metropolitan police station arrested two warranted
accused in a separate operations.
RpMP's Hajirhat Metropolitan police station in an operation rescued the
victim and arrested the accused person in a Women and Children Repression
Prevention Act, 2000 case.
Tajhat Metropolitan police station in two separate raids arrested an alleged
drug dealer with brewed liquor and an accused in an anti-discrimination
student movement case.
Metropolitan Kotwali police station in separate operations arrested two
persons with heroin and another with Yaba tablets during the period.
Legal action has been taken against the arrested persons, the release added.
