Education fair held on BOU campus

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2024 (BSS) - A daylong education fair was held on Bangladesh Open University (BOU) campus in Gazipur today aimed at facilitating insolvent students of the university to acquire higher education in specialized disciplines like engineering, textiles and tourism.

BOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Humayun Akhter inaugurated the fair jointly organized by BOU and Fareast International University (FIU), said a BOU press release here.

Six BOU schools and two departments, and FIU departments under different faculties took part in the daylong fair.

Speaking on the occasion, BOU VC said the aim of this education fair is to help the insolvent students of the BOU to earn higher education in specialized and technical disciplines from the FIU under an agreement.
Under the agreement, BOU students will get a 50 percent waiver on tuition fee and scholarships from the FIU, he added.

Later, Dr Humayun Akhter visited stalls taking part in the fair.

Besides, a seminar titled 'Potentiality of higher education in partnership between public and private universities' was held on the campus while FIU Treasurer Dr Md Manjur E Khoda Tarafder presented the keynote.

FIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Raqib Ahmad and BOU Pro Vice Chancellor (administration) Professor Dr Nasim Banu and Pro Vice Chancellor (academic) Professor Dr Mahbuba Nasreen were present at the seminar, among others.
