4.30 lakh marginalized people get healthcare in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, March 22, 2024 (BSS)- Around 4.30 lakh poor and marginalized people get primary healthcares from different existing facilities being operated by Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).

There are two urban maternity centres, ten urban health centres and 20 satellite clinics in the city to provide the healthcare services.

A total of 12,000 red-card bearing families received services free of cost.

These were revealed in a view-sharing meeting related to the RCC's primary healthcare services.

On the occasion, RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton shared views with Managing Director of the Creative Crowed Nawsher Rahman and Consultant Sazzadur Rahman on the issue at the mayor office of city bhaban.  

RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr ABM Sharif Uddin, Chief Health Officer Dr FAM Anjuman Ara Begum and Resident Physician of city hospital Dr Tariqul Islam also spoke.

Under the healthcare project, 234 manpower consisting of experienced doctors, nurses and paramedics are working.

Mayor Liton said the ongoing urban healthcare project has become a unique model in providing partnership healthcares through which primary healthcares are being ensured to the poor women and children.  

During her keynote presentation, Dr Anjuman Ara told the meeting that the primary healthcare project is being implemented supported by the local government division, Asian Development Bank and different other development agencies in the city since 1998.
