RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2024 (BSS) - Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) celebrated "University Day" amid joy, enthusiasm and fanfare marking its 21st founding anniversary today.
The day's programme began in the morning with hoisting of the national flag and releasing balloons, festoons and pigeons followed by plantation of tree saplings on campus.
Marking the day, a number of teachers, students and staff brought out a colourful rally that paraded through the campus. A discussion was also held at the Central auditorium.
Vice-chancellor-in-Charge of the university Prof Rokonuzzaman opened the daylong programmes with Prof Rabiul Islam Sarker in the chair.
Addressing a brief meeting on the occasion, VC Prof Rokonuzzaman sought cooperation from all quarters to run the university peacefully and successfully.
He said eleven new ten-storey buildings are being constructed on the campus involving Taka 599.30 crore aimed at providing improved facilities for the teachers, researchers, students and others concerned.
The improved facilities will contribute a lot towards advancing and supporting the higher academic standards in both teaching and research that will turn the university into a centre of excellence.
Former VCs Prof Sirajul Karim Chowdhury and Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg, Head of Production and Engineering Prof Mosharraf Hossain and Director of Institute of Information and Communication Technology Prof Shahid Uzzaman, among others, were present on the occasion.
