Asiatic Society celebrates its 73rd Foundation Day

DHAKA, Jan 03, 2025 (BSS) – Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (ASB) today celebrated its 73rd Foundation Day with a pledge to transform it into an advancing hub of academic and scholarly excellence in the days to come. 

As part of the programme, national flag and ASB’s flag were hoisted with the playing of the national anthem on the society premises at the city’s Nimtoli. The celebration programme of the society was inaugurated by releasing pigeons and balloons.

University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Dr. SMA Faiz was present as the chief guest while ASB Vice-President Prof Dr. Hafiza Khatun presided over it. 

Former Vice-Chancellor of National University Prof Dr. Wakil Ahmed presented the key note paper as ASB General Secretary Prof Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan conducted it. 

In his speech SMA Faiz said Asiatic Society of Bangladesh had consolidated its position in the society through hard-work and it had been possible because of the thirst for knowledge, research enthusiasts of the pundits closely associated with the ASB.
 
He also said Asiatic Society in one of the leading research institutes in Bangladesh. 

Prof Dr. Hafiza Khatun said the Asiatic Society has earned fame and reputation at national and international arena through carrying out research on various issues such as the country’s history and culture. 

Prof Siddiqur Rahman Khan said the ASB has become a well-known research organization in the country because of its fundamental research and intellectual pursuits.
