DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organized a cultural event titled ‘Bismoyer Abhijatri, Kananer Kokil’ with the participation of artists with special needs this evening at the Nandan Mancha of the academy.

The artists presented various aesthetic and pleasant performances at the event. At the outset, a discussion was held with Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Dr. Syed Jamil Ahmed in the chair.

Professor Dr. Saima Arju, head of the Department of English at Stamford University, was present as a discussant. Mehjabeen Rahman, Director of the Music, Dance and Recitation Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, delivered the welcome speech.

Dr Jamil Ahmed said, “We don’t all see all colors the same way. We don’t all perceive all sounds, songs and tastes in the same way. In that sense, we are all special.”

“We should not think of any reason that just because I have two legs, two hands and two eyes, I don’t fall into that special child category. I also have some problems. If we look at different places and different categories, every person has some weaknesses, some failures and inabilities. So we should celebrate our existing situation,” he observed.

The director general also said, ‘We all have failure and we should help each other. I want to see life like the children sitting in this programme and be inspired.”

He hoped that Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy will take up more programmes in the future, so that these special children can also fascinate all by becoming special cuckoos of orchard.

The program began with the performance of a group dance titled ‘Mass Uprising of 2024’ by SWID Foundation. Sujan Rahman performed a solo. Then Mohini Akhter of Sporsho Foundation recited the poem 'Chharpatra'; Bithi and Smriti performed the song 'Dhano Dhanya Pushpo bhara' in duet. Tariqul Islam Nazim recited the poem 'Kandari Hushiar' and Saifuddin Rafi performed the solo song 'Jekhanei Simanta Tomar'. Then Saima Akhter Ema performed the songs 'Amar Aponar Cheye Apon Je Jan' and 'Dekhechi Rupsagare Moner Manush'.

The group dance was performed by SWID Laboratory Model School. Finally, Shaheen Reza Russell performed the solo song.
