DHAKA, Jan 19, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the countrymen love sports and cricket as well.
The secretary general told reporters before distributing prizes to the champion and runners-ups teams of ‘Zia Smriti Cricket Tournament’ oragnised by BNP Dhaka (north) unit at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium here.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Organisers have arranged the tournament after the name of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman since the people of the country feel affection to the valiant freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam.”
He said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman was a soldier, who declared the independence of Bangladesh. He (Ziaur Rahman) started working on new reforms in a short time to build a modern and prosperous Bangladesh.
He stated that Ziaur Rhaman first introduced multiparty democracy through reforms. He extended thanks to the organizers to arrange the tournament.
