DHAKA, Nov 7, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called upon the interim government to implement the matters agreed upon by the National Consensus Commission.

The appeal was made in a press release issued today following the party's National Standing Committee meeting, presided over by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

The press release said, "The BNP urges the interim government to take sincere and effective measures for the legal implementation of the matters agreed upon in the July National Charter and to hold the national election on time."

It further elaborates that, as a participant, the BNP upholds all matters stipulated in the Charter, which were established as a national consensus (including certain subjects with Notes of Dissent) after long and detailed discussions in the National Consensus Commission and were signed through a historic ceremony at the South Plaza of the National Parliament on October 17. The party is committed to their implementation in accordance with the country's Constitution and prevailing laws.

"By embodying the strength of the democracy-loving people against all attempts to raise new issues or create crises regarding the implementation of the unanimously adopted July National Charter, the BNP will honor the immense sacrifices of those martyred and injured in the sixteen-year continuous struggle for the re-establishment of democracy and the July-August 2024 Mass Uprising," added the press release.

The BNP firmly believes that all concerned political parties will remain united in implementing the consensus reached through long discussions and will in no way obstruct the holding of elections aimed at restoring democracy by raising new questions or creating crises.
