DHAKA, Jan 22, 2025 (BSS) - Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki today said the relations between Bangladesh and China will reach a unique height in the future through the cultural exchange.

"I know that Bangladesh has entered into a new era...I want to congratulate the Chinese government and its embassy, and I am hopeful that the relations between Bangladesh and China will reach distinctive heights in the days to come through cultural exchanges," he said.

"Cultural exchanges between the two friendly countries will benefit the two nations culturally and economically," said the adviser.

The adviser expressed the hope while attending a function arranged to celebrate Chinese New Year at Shilpakala Academy here on Tuesday afternoon.

Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Dr. Syed Jamil Ahmed gave a welcome address while Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan and Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen also spoke on the occasion.

After the discussion, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organised traditional Manipuri dance while Chinese artists performed Zhejiang Wu Opera.

Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, is a festival that is celebrated marking the end of winter and the beginning of spring.

The main theme of the festival is raising family harmony and exchanging greetings with friends and other relatives. The new year of 2025 has been declared as the 'year of the snake' in China.
