DHAKA, Jan 22, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Environment (DoE) has asked the city dwellers to wear face masks when they go outside as the city's air quality index (AQI) has already reached a hazardous level.

As the air quality index (AQI) in the city reaches over 300 this morning, the DoE has asked city dwellers to wear face masks when they go outside, according to a press release.

Simultaneously, the sensitive people, such as the ailing, elderly, and kids, have also been asked not to go outside of their residences unless there is an emergency, the release added.

The air quality index is changing every hour, said the environmental authority, adding that the air quality usually reaches an unhealthy to vulnerable state in the city and its neighboring areas during the dry season.
