Election at year end or early 2026: EC Masud

PATUAKHALI, Jan 23, 2025 (BSS)- Election Commissioner (EC) Abdur Rahmanel Masud has said the national parliamentary elections will be held either at the end of this year or beginning of the next year (2026).

The EC said this while exchanging views with the election officials of the district and upazila here today.

Masud said the current election commission’s full focus is on the national election. “We are working relentlessly to ensure an acceptable, free, fair, transparent and credible election,” he said.

He highlighted the efforts which are underway across the country for updating voters’ list saying as many as 35,000 data collectors were engaged to accomplish the task 

The commissioner urged the election officials to discharge their duties with utmost responsibility and sought everyone’s cooperation to make a correct voters list.

Senior Election Officer Khan Shahanur Khan chaired the meeting.
