DHAKA, Feb 3, 2025 (BSS) – Use of facebook by prisoners inside jail was impossible, Department of Prisons in a statement said here today.

The statement was issued following a post of a screenshot on facebook using an ID of a person named Faruk Khan.

The post created confusion that it was posted by former Minister Col (retd) Faruk Khan, who is now in Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.

"It is not possible to run such a campaign on facebook from inside the jail since there is no scope for any prisoner to use a mobile phone there.  So, it was not possible for former Minister Col (retd) Faruk Khan to use facebook ID from the jail," the statement read.

However, this department is not aware whether the ID named Faruk Khan is being used by someone else or his relatives, it said.

The law enforcement agencies have been requested to investigate the matter and take necessary action to this end, it added.
