HC suspends judicial activities from 2pm in respect to Justice Rouf

DHAKA, Feb 9, 2025 (BSS) - The judicial functions of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court remains suspended from 2pm today in respect to former chief election commissioner (CEC) Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf.

In a notice uploaded on the apex court website, the High Court administration said the retired judge of the Appellate Division, Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf breathed his last at Insaf Barakah Kidney and General Hospital in the city's Moghbazar at 9:55 am today.

"The judicial activities of the High Court Division will remain suspended from 2 pm in respect to the deceased," said the notice, signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Dr Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan.

Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed mourned the death of Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf.

Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf, a former Appellate Division judge, served as the country's fifth CEC from December 25, 1990, to April 18, 1995.
