DHAKA, Feb 16, 2025(BSS) - Badda police has arrested Md Ibrahim Ansari Apuro, President of banned Chhatra League of BRAC University unit from Basundhara Residential Area of the capital here last night.
A team of Badda police arrested Apurbo from the area for his alleged involvement in the killing of Tawfiqul Islam Bhuiyan, 43, who was shot dead on Pragati Sarani at the west side of the BRAC University during the anti-discrimination students’ movement on July 19 last.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Media and Public Relations of the DMP told BSS that on the basis of a secret information Badda police arrested him.
Badda Police by collecting intelligence information and using technology became sure about the involvement of Apurbo in the killing of Tawfiq, the DC added.
Ismot Jahan Elora, wife of Tawfiq on July 28 filed a case with Badda police station in connection with the murder.
He was sent to the court for taking legal actions.
