5 robbers detained in Pallabi

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2025 (BSS) - Joint forces have arrested five active members of a professional gang of robbers while preparing for committing robbery in the capital’s Pallabi area.

The arrestees were identified as Shakib, 18, Md. Yasin, 19, Md. Shimul, 20, Md. Sujan, 19 and Rabbi Hasan Joy, 20, said a media release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). 

It added that two knives, three  machetes   were recovered from their possessions   at that time.

Acting on a tip-off, police and the joint forces conducted a raid on Thursday at 12:45am as they came to know that some members of robber ring were taking preparation for committing robbery in the Balur Ghat Barontek area under Pallabi police station.

Sensing the presence of the joint forces, the robbers tried to flee the scene, but the five persons were caught red handed by them. 

Pallabi police station said that the arrestees are active members of a professional robbery gang. They confessed in the preliminary interrogation that they had gathered at the mentioned place with home-made weapons to commit a robbery.

Legal process is on against the arrestees.
