Injured Khokon to be sent Russia for advanced treatment tomorrow

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2025 (BSS) - The interim government will send Khokon Chandra Borman, a seriously injured fighter of the July Movement, to Russia tomorrow morning for advanced treatment there.

Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) of Bangladesh government will send him to Moscow' University Clinic of M.V. Lomonosov on Friday morning on a flight of Qatar Airways. 

As Khokon's bullet wounds caused serious damages and loss of his upper lip, gums, nose, and palate, no hospital except Moscow' University Clinic of M.V. Lomonosov agreed to treat Khokon.

He will be primarily evaluated there and a model will be prepared to take back his face to return to the normal state using advanced 3D animation technologies. The main surgery of reconstructing the face may begin after a month. 

Injured Khokon Chandra Bormon was shot at his face in front of Jatrabari Police Station on August 5 last year during the July Uprising resulting a big damage to the his face and bones.

MOHFW has sent a total of 38 injured to Singapore and Thailand for advanced treatments and three of those injured returned home after receiving treatment.
