NU observes Martyrs' Day with due respect

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2025 (BSS) - The authorities of National University (NU) today observed the Martyr's Day and International Mother Language Day with due respect, paying rich tribute to the martyrs.

Vice-Chancellor of the National University (NU) Professor Dr ASM Amanullah along with teachers and students paid tribute to the martyrs of the language movement at the central Shaheed Minar, according to a press release. 

NU Pro-Vice-Chancellors Professor Md Lutfar Rahman and Professor Dr Md Nurul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr ATM Zafrul Azam, Deans (Acting) of various faculties, Registrar, Controller, Heads of Departments, teachers, officials, students and employees were accompanied with the vice chancellor, said the press release.

Floral tributes were also paid at the Memorial Minar on the main campus of the university in Gazipur. 

Besides, same program was observed in colleges and regional centers affiliated to the National University to mark the day. 

The national flag and the university flag were flown at half-mast and the black flag was hoisted at the university's Gazipur campus, Dhanmondi office and regional centers to pay tribute to the language martyrs. 

During the programme, teachers, officers, students and employees of the university wore black badges, the release said.
