DHAKA, Feb 22, 2025 (BSP) - The closing and prize distribution ceremony of 8th Runner President Cup Golf tournament was held at Kurmitola Golf Club in the capital yesterday, said an ISPR press release.

Chief of Army Staff and President of Kurmitola Golf Club General Waker-Uz-Zaman addressed the function as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winners'.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, the Army Chief expressed his hope that the organizing such kind of competition would play an important role in the development of the country's golf arena. He also thanked all the concerned for organizing this tournament.

A total of 704 golfers including local and foreign players participated at the tournament.

Sadiqul Islam became the champion of the tournament and Major General AKM Sajedul Islam finished as runner-up while Fatema Islam Lima became the ladies winner in the tournament.

Senior military officers of Bangladesh Army, chief executive officer of Kurmitola Golf Club, tournament committee chairman, executive committee members and other dignitaries including players and media persons were present in the event.
