2 judges nominated as members of Supreme Judicial Appointment Council

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2025 (BSS) - Retired Appellate Division Justice Tariq-ul-Hakim and Professor Dr Sumaiya Khair of the Faculty of Law, Dhaka University have been nominated as members of the Supreme Judicial Appointment Council for a period of two years.

A notification signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Dr Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan said this today.

It said the nominations have been made following the provisions mentioned in clauses (e) and (g) of sub-section 3(2) of the Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance, 2025.

"It is hereby notified that as per the Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance, 2025, the Chairperson of the Supreme Judicial Appointment Council, the Chief Justice, has nominated retired Justice Tariq-ul Hakim of the Appellate Division and Professor of the Faculty of Law, Dhaka University, Dr. Sumaiya Khair, as members of the Supreme Judicial Appointments Council as mentioned in clauses 3(2), (4) and (6) of the Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance, 2025 for a period of two years,” it said.

This will come into effect immediately, the notification said, adding that this notification regarding the appointment has been published on the Supreme Court website.
