houses to the flood victims in Sadar and Fulgazi upazilas of Feni district.
"Chittagong Naval Zone Commander Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali formally handed
over the newly built houses among the 85 families of the flood victims in
Feni district," said a release of the Directorate of Inters-Services Public
Relations (ISPR) this afternoon.
Due to the heavy rains along with entrance of river water, a wide area of
some districts including Feni was inundated on August 28, 2024.
During the period, the entire area including houses, schools, colleges,
madrasas, mosques and temples of Feni district, specially Feni Sadar and
Fulgazi upazilas, went under water becoming a large number of people
absolutely houseless in this area.
Later on the flood, the construction of the house was taken to rehabilitate
the flood victims under the initiative of the BNFWA and the management of the
Navy. Various institutions, organisations and prominent people also were
involved in the programme.
"Work on the project began on October 09, 2024," the ISPR mentioned.
The newly-built one and half-storey flood-resilient houses were made in the
form of the houses of flood-prone Munshiganj district in Bangladesh, so that
the people are facilitated safely at their home with their families even
during the inundation.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Feni, Superintendent of Police (SP), other senior
officials of the Navy, local administration and dignitaries were present,
among others, on the occasion.
