BAGERHAT, Feb 23, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Vice-Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu today said the cohorts of the fascist regime once again engaged in hatching conspiracies to destabilize the country.

"The nation begins to dream of a new future after enduring 17 years of political stagnation. But the fallen forces are making attempts frequently to create religious divisions and fuel communal violence," he told a rally today at a ground adjacent to the historic Khan Jahan Ali Mazar in Bagerhat.

The rally was organized by the Bagerhat district BNP as part of a nationwide series of protests calling for a roadmap for democratic recovery, reducing the prices of essential commodities, and improving law and order.

Barkat Ullah Bulu criticized the former regime for widespread corruption, political repression, and crimes like abductions, killings, and extortion under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

"There is no crime left that the internationally recognized murderer, the fascist dictator, Hasina, hasn't committed," he said.

Bulu said, "Under the fascist's regime, people lived in an environment of constant fear, unable to even speak up for their rights, as the state was ruled by a dictatorship placing us on a terrifying path."

"To restore the people's rightful power, elections are the only solution. We must complete reforms and hold elections without delay," he added.

Chaired by district BNP convener ATM Akram Hossain Talim, the rally was also addressed by central committee Organizing Secretary (Khulna Division) Anindya Islam Amit, Education Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam, Research Affairs Secretary Agriculturist Shamimur Rahman Shamim and Co-organizing Secretary Babu Jayanta Kumar Kundu.
BNP's national executive committee members Mujibur Rahman and Advocate Wahiduzzaman Dipu, and former Bagerhat district BNP president A M A Salam, among others, also addressed the rally.
