SAVAR, Feb 23, 2025 (BSS) - Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed today stated that the government is closely monitoring the market situation to prevent price hikes of essential commodities ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

"The government is importing and stockpiling essential items such as rice and pulses alongside maintaining strict vigilance over the market to prevent any price hike by traders," the adviser told journalists this evening after attending the 65th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) at Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.

Dr. Salehuddin said that the government is fully aware of the overall situation and is taking necessary measures to ensure price stability during Ramadan.

Regarding energy supply, he noted that the possibility of load shedding during Ramadan is minimal due to sufficient gas and energy resources.

Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman, among others, were present at the event.
