Govt withdraws police medals of 103 officials

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - The government today withdrew the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service) or President Police Medal (PPM-Service) of 103 officers for their direct involvement in the controversial 10th parliamentary election held on December 30, 2018.

Former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Asaduzzaman Mia and then deputy inspector general (DIG) of police and former DMP commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruk are among those officers whose medals have been withdrawn.

The Public Security Division of the Home Ministry today issued a notification in this regard signed by its Senior Secretary Tausif Ahmed.

The police officials have been asked to refund the money they received against the medals for 2018.
