Govt renames 16 military establishments

DHAKA, Mar 12, 2025 (BSS) - Sixteen more establishments under Bangladesh Army, previously named after deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her family members and individuals associated with her government, have been changed.

The Ministry of Defense issued a notification in this regard today saying that the defense adviser (also the chief adviser) endorsed the decision of renaming the following 16 sangsthas, institutions and establishments:

Jamuna Nibas (previously Bangabandhu Cantonment) at Bhuapur in Tangail, Mithamoin Cantonment (Previously Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Hamid Cantonment) in Kishoreganj, Barishal Cantonment (Previously Sheikh Hasina Cantonment) at Lebukhali in Barishal, Padma Cantonment (Sheikh Russell Cantonment) at Zajira in Shariatpur, BMA Academic Complex, (previously Bangabandhu Complex with sculpture) at BMA in Bhatiari, Artillery Center and School (previously Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Battery Complex- Complex-1 and Complex-2) at AC&S in Halishahar, 1 Field Regiment Artillery (Mujib Regiment Artillery) at Ramu Cantonment in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh Military Museum (previously Bangabandhu Military Museum) at Bijoy Sarwani in Dhaka.

Besides, Composite Military Farm (previously Bangabandhu Composite Military Farm) at Charjanajat in Shariatpur, Independence Museum (previously Bangabandhu Museum) in Dhaka Cantonment, Jamuna Cantonment Public School and College (previously Bangabandhu Cantonment Public School and College) at Bhuapur in Tangail, Adamjee Cantonment Public School and College (previously Sheikh Russell Cantonment Public School and College) at Jolshiri in Narayanganj, Padma Cantonment Public School and College (previously Sheikh Russell Cantonment Public School and College) at Zajira in Shariatpur, Barishal Cantonment Public School and College (previously Sheikh Hasina Cantonment Public School and College) at Lebukhali in Barishal, EBRC Academy Complex (previously Sheikh Kamal Complex with sculpture) in Chittagong Cantonment and Golondaj Road (previously Mujib Battery Road) at Halishahar in Chattogram.

This order will come into effect very shortly, the notification added.

Earlier, eight other military institutions were renamed on March 10.
