KOICA to provide $8.85m grant to Bangladesh

DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) - The government of Bangladesh and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Republic of Korea, today signed separate deals for providing $8.85 million grant to Bangladesh for a road sector project.

In this regard, the Record of Discussion (RoD) and Terms of Reference (ToR) for the project titled "Capacity Development for Smart Maintenance Technology of Bridges under Roads and Highways Department in Bangladesh" were signed today, said an Economic Relations Division (ERD) press release.

Mirana Mahrukh, Additional Secretary and Wing Chief (Asia, JEC and F&F), ERD signed the RoD and ToR on behalf of the government of Bangladesh while Taeyoung Kim, Country Director of KOICA, signed on behalf of his organization.

This Project will be implemented by Roads and Highways Department, under the Road Transport and Highways Division. 

KOICA will provide amounting $8.85 million (approximately Taka 108.00 crore) as grant to implement the project. 

The primary objective of the project is to improve bridge safety through bridge maintenance through utilizing smart technology.
