All workers’ dues must be paid by 20th Ramadan: TCC meeting

DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) - All dues of workers, including salary arrears and bonuses, must be paid by 20th Ramadan, along with salary for at least 15 days of March, based on the employer’s capacity.

The decision was taken at the 85th meeting of the Tripartite Consultative Council (TCC) took place recently at Shrama Bhaban, which also reviewed the labor situation before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr and other issues, including salaries, bonuses, and holidays of workers in the industrial sector. 

Other notable decisions made by the TCC include that no worker can be dismissed or laid off before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, and that factory authorities, in consultation with workers’ representatives, will determine the duration of the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.

Besides, finance division and Bangladesh Bank will be requested to take necessary measures to facilitate payment of the dues of BGMEA, BKMES and owners to the government as the cash incentive.

The law enforcement agencies will keep vigilance on the overall situation, including the payment of the dues of the workers, on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

In addition to the committees framed by various organizations and law enforcement agencies for central monitoring, a dedicated central monitoring cell will be formed, comprising representatives from employers, with the Additional Secretary (Labor) of the Ministry of Labor and Employment at its helm.

The bank branches concerned will remain open in the industrial zone from March 28 to March 29.

With AHM Shafiquzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, representatives of the workers, employers, the ministry of labor and employment, various ministries, Industrial Police, Bangladesh Army, and concerned officials were present at the meeting.
