Armed Forces get magistracy power for more two months

DHAKA, Mar 13, 2025 (BSS)- The magistracy power of the commissioned officers of Bangladesh Armed Forces with the rank of captain and above has been extended for another two months.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification today in this regard.

The notification said this provision will come to effect from March 15 and remain effective for next 60 days.

Military officers serving on deputation in the Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have also been vested with the same authority.

Being empowered with the magistracy power, army officers can take the crimes under sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 86, 95 (2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133 and 142 of the Code of Criminal Procedure into their cognizance and take necessary actions.

Earlier on September 17, the government gave the magistracy power to commissioned officers of the armed forces for two months. Later, it was extended two times for 60 days each.

Now, the powers have been extended for 60 more days.
