RAB arrests July mass uprising triple murder accused

DHAKA, March 14, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested Md
Hossain, 19, an accused in a case lodged over the killing of three anti-
discrimination student movement activists in front of Jatrabari Police
Station on July 14, 2024.

"An operation team of the RAB-10 arrested Md Hossain, 19, son of Billal
Hossain, from South Keraniganj area around 1.30 am. The arrestee was handed
over to the concerned police station," a RAB release said.

As the anti-discrimination student movement activists along with the people
from all walks of showing protests around the Jatrabari Police Station on
July 14 last, cadres of Awami League (AL), Jubo League and now banned
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) attacked them with sharp weapons, sticks and
iron rods, according to the RAB sources.

"The attackers hacked three people including Md Saidul Islam Yasin
indiscriminately and left them to die in front of the Jatrabari Police
Station.

People later rushed them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), where
the attending doctors declared them dead," the release added.

Yasin's mother filed the case on September 5, 2024.
