Media's role crucial for ensuring accountability: Monir Haider

MEHERPUR, March 14, 2025 (BSS) - Terming media's role as crucial to ensure accountability in society, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider today said transparency and accountability are the main aspects of modern society and state management.

"If objective journalism is upheld, it can significantly contribute to transparency and ensure the well-being of a large segment of people in society," he said.

He said, "There is no alternative to transparent and honest journalism."
Monir Haider was speaking as the chief guest at the closing and certificate-giving ceremony of a three-day training program on news and broadcast journalism, held at the Sadar Upazila Parishad hall room.

Chaired by Meherpur Press Club President Fazlul Haq Mantu, the programme was also addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner Sifat Mehnaz, journalist Tuhin Arannaya, and trainer of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Zilhaj Uddin Nipun.

Later, he handed over certificates among participants of the training programme.
