Student bodies demand DUCSU election immediately

DHAKA, March 14, 2025 (BSS) – Leaders of different student organizations on Friday at a discussion demanded immediate announcement of a roadmap for holding Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) election.

The student leaders came up with the demand at a discussion titled ‘Post-Revolutionary Dhaka University: Expectations and Achievements’, organized by Dhaka University journalists Association prior to an iftar party at TSC cafeteria on Dhaka university campus.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan addressed the discussion as chief guest while DU Pro-VC (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Mahbub Morshed spoke as special guests.

In their speeches, the student leaders called upon the university administration to announce the roadmap for DUCSU election to ensure the rights of the students.  

Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan said, “A beautiful atmosphere has been prevailing on the Dhaka University campus after the student-led mass uprising.”

He expressed his satisfaction over the peaceful coexistence of student organizations on campus after a long time and stressed the need for maintaining the culture of political tolerance. He also expressed hope that DUJA members would continue their fearless role in future movements, similar to their participation in the July movement.

BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Mahbub Morshed, in his speech, praised the spirit of coexistence and tolerance demonstrated by student organizations at the event. He expressed optimism that if this cooperation continues, a beautiful Bangladesh could be built. “I see this huge potential among the student organizations present here,” he added.

DUJA President Mahiuddin Muzahid Mahi extended gratitude to the guests and student organizations for taking part at the event. DUJA General Secretary Mutaher Hossen moderated the programme.    

BNP’s student wing Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir president Zahidul Islam, Convener of Bangladesh Democratic Students’ Council Abu Bakar Majumder, President of Revolutionary Students Alliance Dilip Roy, President of Socialist Students' Front Salman Siddiqui, President of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Bin Yamin Molla, President of Bangladesh Students’ Union Ragib Naim, General Secretary of Bangladesh Students' Federation Saikat Arif, Secretary-General of Islami Chhatra Andolon Bangladesh Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman Nahian and Convener of Swadhin Bangla Chhatra Sangshad Jamaluddin Muhammad Khalid addressed the discussion among the student leaders.
