DHAKA, March 16, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today rejected a plea filed by former food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder for bail in a graft case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order as Sadhan's counsel pleaded for bail in the case. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), however, vehemently opposed the plea.

After hearing both the parties, the court scrapped the bail plea and sent the accused back to jail.

Detective branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Sadhan from the city's Basundhara Residential Area on October 3.

The ACC filed the case on December 19 for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 25.34 crore and keeping those under his possession. ACC assistant director Afnan Jannat Keya filed the case against the former minister. The court on January 29 showed Sadhan arrested in the case.
