DHAKA, March 16, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed travel ban on former Kushtia-3 lawmaker Md Mahbubul Alam Hanif and former Kishoreganj-6 lawmaker Nazmul Hassan Papon and their family members over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the orders, allowing two separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Under one petition, the court imposed travel ban on Hanif, his wife Foujia Alam, daughter Tanisha Alam, sons Fahim Afsar Alam and Farhan Sadik Alam, while under another petition, the court imposed travel ban on Papon, his wife Roksana Hasan, daughters Suneya Rahman, Rushmila Rahman, son Rafsan Hasan and son-in-law Rakin Al-Mahmud.

Confirming the matter to BSS, ACC deputy director (public relations) Akterul Islam said the agency is probing allegations of amassing illegal wealth in the name of Hanif and his family members, extorting money from sand quarries, tender manipulation, giving appointments for money and government fund embezzlement.

"Hanif and his family members have undeclared properties at home and abroad. They may escape the country to evade justice and that is why, travel ban should be imposed on them," the ACC plea said.

In almost identical plea, the ACC said the agency is probing allegations against Papon, also the former president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and his family members of embezzling government money and amassing illegal wealth.

"They have undeclared properties at home and abroad. They may try to flee the country and hand over the ill-gotten properties to evade the justice. So, travel ban should be imposed on them," the ACC plea said.
