DHAKA, March 17, 2025 (BSS) – Rashtra Sanskar Andolan Chief Coordinator and Supreme Court lawyer Hasnat Quaiyum lodged a writ petition with the High Court on Sunday challenging the public notice issued by the Election Commission (EC) for new political party registration.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat and
Electoral Reform Commission have been made respondents in the writ.

“We filed the writ challenging the EC’s public notice yesterday. In the writ, we challenged
different issues including depriving the hilly people from forming political parties,” said writ
petitioner Hasnat Quaiyum.

Earlier, on March 10, the Election Commission issued the public notice inviting applications for the registration of new political parties.

In the notice, the intending political parties have been asked to submit the applications by April 20.
