DHAKA, March 17, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today urged all concerned to bring Mobile Veterinary Clinic (MVC) services to the doorsteps of the rural poor people.

“MVC is a great achievement in the context of Bangladesh. However, its proper use must be ensured,” she said while distributing MVC to 115 upazila livestock departments at Livestock Research Centre (LRI) in city’s Mohakhali.

Farida said MVC is a hospital and it has everything for animal treatments. There is also a surgeon, she added.

The advisor asked the Director General of the Livestock Department and others concerned to reach out the service to remote farmers. Attention should be given to ensure that it is not used for any other purposes, she said.

She said, “It is often seen that we provide services to large or commercial farms. In this case, in addition to providing services to them, we need to take measures to reach out to rural and remote farmers.”

She urged them to learn about this service and take initiatives for it.

Farida Akhter said if an animal is sick, many animals around it may also get sick. “Keeping this in mind, care must be taken for all animals. So that sick animals cannot come to the market. Care must be taken for all livestock and birds,” she added.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Nilufa Akhter, Director (Administration) of the Department of Fisheries Dr Md. Boyzar Rahman, Project Director of the Livestock and Dairy Development Project Dr Md Jasim Uddin, Spokesperson of the Shailkupa Combined Farm Council and Farmers Federation Md Tanzir Alam Robin, among others, were present at the event with Director General of the Department of Livestock Dr Md Abu Sufian in the chair.
