DHAKA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar today said despite various limitations at the Central Veterinary Hospital, the ability of veterinary doctors to diagnose diseases is truly a matter of pride.
She made this remark while exchanging views with officials in the auditorium after visiting the Central Veterinary Hospital here this afternoon, said a ministry press release.
"The doctors at the hospital are doing excellent jobs, but there is limited publicity about their work. Therefore, efforts should be made to increase publicity so that the public is more aware of your activities," she said.
She mentioned that after the coronavirus, humans and animals are now inseparable in terms of the pattern of diseases, and soon the same medications for both humans and animals will be available in hospitals.
Highlighting the various limitations under which the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has been doing works, Farida commended the doctors for their dedicated work with pets, saying, "The way you care for pets as veterinary doctors is truly commendable."
She also acknowledged the efforts of numerous animal welfare organizations in society that are working alongside veterinarians for the well-being of pets.
The adviser emphasized the need to address the manpower and transportation challenges at the Central Veterinary Hospital, as well as the importance of establishing a daycare facility.
With Dr Md Abu Sufian, Director General of the Department of Livestock, the Central Veterinary Hospital Director Dr Md Abdul Aziz Al Mamun and other official concerned also spoke.
To ensure continuous medical services for animals, the Central Veterinary Hospital operates in two shifts from Sunday to Thursday: 8 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 8 pm. Additionally, animal medical services are available on Friday from 8 am to 12 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm.
