DHAKA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - Former University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Profesor Dr Kazi Shahidullah today passed away in Canberra, the capital of Australia.
"Professor Kazi Shahidullah breathed his last around 1.15pm (BST) at his daughter's residence in Canberra," said a UGC press release here this evening.
He had been suffering from cancer for long. Professor Shahidullah was undergoing treatment in Australia until his death.
Professor Shahidullah, also former professor of Dhaka University (DU)of History Department, left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
In a condolence message, UGC Chairman Professor Dr SMA Faiz and all other members and officials of the commission expressed profound shock and deep sorrow at the death of Professor Kazi Shahidullah.
They prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
