DHAKA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said strong unity among political parties is very necessary to fulfill aspirations of a democratic Bangladesh.

"Today we are going through a very difficult time. Even though we have a fascism-free environment, we still cannot find a clear direction on the path to democracy. The democratic aspirations of the people have been created through the struggle of the last 15 years and the July-August uprising."

To implement this aspiration, strong unity of political parties is needed, he said while addressing an iftar-mahfil, organized by BNP at the Ladies Club in capital's Eskaton road.

BNP organized the programme in honor of various political parties and prominent people. At the beginning, Mirza Fakhrul greeted everyone to have a happy Ramadan on behalf of the party.

He said the reform proposals in various sectors have already reached the political parties.

"I would request them to observe those proposals in depth and give their opinions so that we can move forward with everyone," he added.

All the problems need to be resolved on the basis of consensus among all the political parties, said the BNP secretary general.

He hoped that if BNP is voted to power by the people, it will form a national government and implement the 31-Point outline for Structural Reforms in Bangladesh.

Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr Abdullah Mohammad Taher, National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, Jatiya Party faction chairman Mustafa Jamal Haider, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur attended the iftar event, among others.
