Three bakeries fined for using harmful chemicals

DHAKA, Mar 20, 2025 (BSS) – A mobile court today fined three bakeries for using harmful chemicals and artificial colors in their food items.

The mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Md. Abu Hasan, conducted raids at Sumaiya Bakery and Madina Bakery under Dakshinkhan Police Station and New Rajdhani Bakery under Uttarkhan Police Station from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, said a RAB press release.

The court fined Sumaiya Bakery and Madina Bakery Tk 50,000 each and New Rajdhani Bakery Tk 100,000 under Section 31 of the BSTI Act 2018.

Harmful food colors and chemicals were seized during the operation. Later, these ingredients were destroyed in the presence of the magistrate.

The mobile court also warned that the bakeries would be shut down if they continue using harmful ingredients in foods, the press release added.

RAB personnel assisted the mobile court during the drive.
