DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS) - In an operation of a dog squad of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), two individuals along with 9,800 pieces of yaba tablets were arrested from a Cox's Bazar-bound bus at Hoikang BGB check post on Teknaf-Ukhia-Cox's Bazar highway on Tuesday morning.

The detainees were identified as Shaker Mia (42), son of late Hason Ali of Pallan Para village of Teknaf, and Abdur Rahman (20), son of Safi Ullah of the same village, said a BGB press release.

Acting on secret information that a consignment of drugs would be transported to Cox's Bazar by a bus via Teknaf-Ukhia-Cox's Bazar highway, a dog squad of BGB's Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) stopped the bus near BGB's Hoikang check post around 10am on Tuesday.

During the search, the dog squad detected the yaba tablets concealed in five small containers wrapped with black tape.

"The arrestees were taking the yaba tablets to Cox's Bazar for sale, using the passenger bus as a cover to evade law enforcement agencies," the release added.

The arrestees, seized Yaba and the passenger bus were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station.

A case was filed in this connection.
