Consensus Commission holds meeting with experts on implementation of July Charter

DHAKA, Oct 7, 2025 (BSS) – The National Consensus Commission today held a virtual meeting with legal and constitutional experts to review the implementation strategies of the July National Charter- 2025 and discuss key issues raised during its recent dialogue with political parties.

Former Appellate Division Justice MA Matin, former Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury, Dean of Dhaka University (DU) Law Faculty Professor Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court Dr Sharif Bhuiyan, Barrister Imran Siddique, and Barrister Tanim Hossain Shawon joined the meeting, said a press release.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the major issues discussed in the October 5 meeting between the Commission and political parties, particularly focusing on the proposed mechanisms for implementing the ‘July National Charter 2025’. 

The experts also held detailed discussions on the proposed referendum process related to the Charter’s implementation.

The Commission will hold another meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) morning with the experts.

Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz and members Dr Badiul Alam Majumder, Justice Md Emdadul Haque, Dr Iftekharuzzaman, and Dr Md Ayub Miah, and Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider joined the meeting on behalf of the commission.
