2 killed in Magura road accident

MAGURA, Oct 7, 2025 (BSS) - Two people were killed and another sustained serious injuries in a collision between a motorcycle and a Nosimon (locally made three-wheeler) near Talkhari Bazar in Shalikha upazila of Magura on Tuesday evening.

The deceased were identified as Abu Huraira, 21, son of Bakar Biswas of Patharghata village under Talkhari Union and a pedestrian whose identity could not be confirmed immediately.

Local sources said the accident occurred around 7:30 pm when the motorcycle collided head-on with a Nosimon near Talkhari Bazar. 

The impact caused the Nosimon to overturn and fall on a pedestrian standing by the roadside, killing both the pedestrian and one of the motorcyclists on the spot.

Another motorcyclist, identified as Rifat, 19, son of Hafizur Rahman of Kushkhali village, suffered critical injuries in the accident. He was rushed to Magura 250-bed District Hospital for treatment.

Locals said both motorcyclists worked in decoration services and jointly operated a decoration shop at Chaturbaria Bazar. They were returning to Chaturbaria from Aarpra when the tragic accident took place.

Fire Service personnel recovered the bodies and sent them to Magura 250-bed District Hospital for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shalikha Police Station Oli Mia said the Nosimon driver fled the scene soon after the incident. "Efforts are underway to apprehend the driver, and legal action is being taken," he added.
