DHAKA, March 27, 2025 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) Police today arrested three professional drug traders and seized 46,900 pieces of yaba from the city’s Jatrabari area.
The arrestees are Md Abul Hossain (55), Swapan Kumar Natro alias Md Salman (42) and Md Shakil (23).
According to DB, members of the police got information that some drug readers were coming towards Rayerbagh under Jatrabari Police Station by bus with yaba tablets.
Based on the information, the DB team conducted a check post on the south side of the foot-over-bridge at Rayerbagh area on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
Police searched the bus and found yaba tablets kept in a special way inside the bus and arrested three professional drug dealers for their involvement in smuggling the illegal drug.
Police also seized the 46,900 yaba tablets.
The estimated market value of the recovered yaba tablets is about Tk. 92.40 lakh.
A case was registered against the arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed that they used to collect yaba from Cox's Bazar, bring it to Dhaka for seeing it to various drug dealers in the capital and surrounding areas.
